Giesbers often names his Shifts paintings after influences and inspirations. This work is named after Gerhard Richter, one of Giesbers' favorite abstract painters of the 20th century.
The painting turns negative in the dark (color shift) with the help of phosphorescent pigments (glow in the dark). The work is finished in high gloss and is ready to hang.
