With the Shift series Giesbers celebrates positive influencers to his life. Not particularly positive, during the COVID-19 lockdown of nursing homes Giesbers' god- and grandfather fell ill and visiting not allowed. To support his godfather in distance he played Johan Strauss over and over while working on this artwork, Strauss being one of the composers his grandfather loved. According to Giesbers the frustration of not being able to support physically is clearly visible in the work.
The painting turns negative in the dark (color shift) with the help of a luminous colorfield. The work is finished in high gloss and is ready to hang.
